Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes...

Many graduations take place this time of year, celebrating the past and anticipating the future. We have had the pleasure of seeing our older 2 graduate. These graduations are more like promotions, but are no less exciting.

Gavin graduated from 6th grade this week. It is so hard to believe how much he's grown. Those of you who have been on this journey with us for several years know how far he's come. The big change in his life...MIDDLE SCHOOL!

Isaac recently graduated from preschool. He has spent the last 3 years attending a terriffic preschool and is ready for the big change in his life...KINDERGARTEN!! (But is Kindergarten ready for him?)

Asher hasn't graduated from anything yet. He did just turn 2, though. His next adventure...DAYCARE! (part time) We have been so fortunate to be able to keep him at home. Now we're giving him the opportunity to spend time with other kids his age.

And for the hubby and I...no big changes for us. It's a good thing, too. We have our hands full preparing our boys for the new adventures that lie ahead.

Clever Little Guy

This is a picture of my 2-year-old after he pulled a little trick on Momma. He ran into the living room asking for a cup of mook (milk). He had a real sense of urgency. He was asking almost frantically as if he needed it RIGHT NOW! Well, I went into the kitchen to get his desperately needed milk. I looked over my shoulder to see him happily sitting in my seat. He had grabbed my soda and was drinking as fast as he could. I had to stop and smile. He looked at me with such a look of pride! If he could put all of the words together, I'm sure he would be saying "Tricked ya Momma!"

I just love this kid.

Happy Birthday Gavin

Today, the amazing G-man turns 12. It's hard to believe that he's been a part of my life for 9 years. We met shortly after he turned 3. Suddenly there's a creature living in our house who talks about going to junior high next year in a voice that is getting much deeper. Who is that?? Gavin is such a loving, precious boys...scratch that...young man. We have had many challenging times, but those are heavily outweighed by the wonderful memories and terrific attributes he posses. He will probably remember this birthday since we have had lots of crazy winter weather, and he's gotten a little snow vaca from school. I can't express how fortunate I am to know Gavin.

Crafty Procrastination

I've been working most of the weekend on a set of curtains and needed a break. Isaac and I dug the miniature silver Christmas tree from the basement. The boys all helped me transform it into a Valentine's Day tree!
You know you're loved when your all-boy house works so hard on the pretty, sparkley, pink-covered project:)

Asher being adorable...dirty face and all.

Everyone pitched in! We had most of the supplies on hand (big shock, huh, haha).

Ta-da!

Like a Kid Again...

All bundled up and ready to go!

Sledding !

Wow, Asher doesn't look happy in this one.

Me and my boys

Today was another snow day and the whole family headed out for some sledding. We went near my in-law's house. The kids didn't last very long, but it was fun while it lasted. We warmed up with some Imo's pizza afterwards!

Snow Day!

This was the view from my back window this morning. I love snow days even though it means adding days to the end of the school year. All 5 of us were home for the day, and most of the day was spent in pajamas. I was able to check a few things off my sewing project list. The next project I'll be tackling tomorrow (another snow day)is a set of curtains. I hope to have pictures to post soon! Until then, stay warm!

Perfect winter reading mateirals

My family is taking a week long road trip to South Dakota this summer. We are looking forward to seeing Mt. Rushmore and many other sites along the way. Although I am the only girl in my house, and the only one who has any interest in Laura Ingalls Wilder, we are taking the detour to see the Ingalls home in Desmet, SD. I feel it is only appropriate that I re-read as many of the Little House on the Prairie books as possible, espeically the ones written about the time spent in the Desmet area.
